Luminocity is an exhibition by the UNSW Built Environment faculty, showcasing inspiring work from students and graduates across all undergraduate degrees, who are solving urban and social challenges around Australia and the globe.

The Challenge

To create an engaging experiential marketing event to showcase and demystify the faculty’s seven degrees and increase undergraduate applications for 2016.

The Outcome

Based on extensive consultation, we supported the faculty with creating buzz leading up to the event through marketing collateral and a motion graphics video, as well as a custom photo competition within the mobile website.

We designed and produced the exhibition which included delivery of a 4m tall light sculpture as signage, silk flags and 42m of sculptural light tables to exhibit works.

The exhibition was supported by a mobile website, which incorporated faceted searching of projects, a photo competition, a custom social media hub and information about the faculty and degrees.

The event was well received and attracted hundreds of school leavers and resulted in more first preference applications for the faculty with the Luminocity Exhibition 2015 cited as the reason for the choice.

Finalist: 2016 AGDA Awards (wish us luck!)

The mobile website was used for marketing the event and within the exhibition itself. It allowed people to: get more detail on projects exhibited; find out more about the faculty; enter, vote and view entries in the photo competition; and, included a social media hub which aggregated social media platform content, hashtags and activity. The design also featured an interactive map of the exhibition space to explore exhibits.

Equilibrium Design has helped us with a number of different projects. Their work has always been magnificent. One particularly large project involved everything from the concept, the design and building of a large exhibition, and the delivery of a range of related material including all collateral. The project has to be delivered on budget and on time. And it had to look exceptional. Equilibrium delivered in every way!

We designed and produced custom light tables with sculptural legs. These beautiful tables have been used ongoing for other exhibitions, including the Architecture by Hand and Mind: 60 Years of Architecture at UNSW exhibition
