Why White? was the inaugural exhibition for a new creative art space, 107 Projects—a gallery keen to challenge the traditional white-walled gallery and bring art back into the everyday life of people. Equilibrium created two installations for the exhibition.
‘Cross-Genre’ is a series of 18 photographs—3 portraits each for 6 people. It looks at the way people present themselves in different contexts, mirroring the premise for the exhibition on an individual, personal representational level.
Our second work for Why White? was ‘De-Animation’, which challenges the traditional still life painting, tracing dying flowers and conserving the ephemeral petal refuse of the flowers’ life.
